That’s right!  I tell no tall tales– Prismacolor and our new friends at the Sketchbook Project are hitting the road for the 2012 Sketchbook World Tour and are heading to a city near you!

The Sketchbook Project is a traveling library of original sketchbooks, bringing the work of thousands of creative professionals to art aficionados and enthusiasts in 15 cities around the world.  The 2012 World Tour, brought to you by Brooklyn-based Art House Co-Op and Prismacolor, invites art lovers to peruse these unique works from talented artists while experiencing Prismacolor’s new Brush Tip Markers!

Prismacolor Hosts Inaugural Advisory Council Meeting

Recently, Prismacolor enthusiasts and experts gathered together for the brand’s inaugural Advisory Council meeting at awe- inspiring Gallery 37, a local Chicago non-profit gallery that provides programs for area kids.  On Thursday, Sept 1, the ENTIRE Prismacolor team, (even our company president stopped by) hosted 14 of the nation’s most prestigious artists in Chicago for their first-ever Advisory Council meeting.

Anime Expo: Shelley Style!

Fine art consumer specialist, Shelly, is back from 2011 Anime Expo and is BURSTING to tell us all about it!

Shelley travelled to Los Angeles, California with fellow Prismacolor teammate, Pete Ridge, and together they mixed and mingled with Anime and Prismacolor fans, hosted a workshop and had an overall amazing time over the 4th of July weekend in beautiful LA with all the beautiful people!

Hold on to your capes, Prismacolor enthusiasts- Fine Art Consumer Specialist, Shelley, Diana’s partner in crime, is here! She is a travelling art fiend and is taking us along on her wild ride through California as she attends the Anime Expo  THIS FRIDAY in Los Angeles and then onto  San Diego for Comic Con later this month!

Shelley is an art super hero with a BFA from the University of North Texas and with more than 10 years of teaching under her belt, she has stood bright for artists on the western half of the US, spreading the Prismacolor love  for the past 13 years. From product demonstrations to guest lectures, Shelley is our go-to-gal out West.

Lessons Learned

I am one lucky duck today! A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of interviewing  landscape artist, Nina Weiss, and now we have a sneak peek into one of Nina’s workshops!  Prismacolor team member, Laura Ross, spent an entire  Saturday attempting to master Nina’s famous technique. She’ll argue, but we think she did a pretty amazing job!

fter wrapping up at SAIC’s The Fashion Show 2011, the team headed West, and onto the College of DuPage’s portfolio night. Check out the second installment of Show me what you’re working with! (In case you missed it, you can read the 1st installment here)

We were so excited to arrive at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn for Portfolio Awards night sponsored by the Graphic Arts department. The event is held each year to honor the graphic art students, both college and high school, for their accomplishments and showcase their work.  Prismacolor was up front and center, handing out samples and giving students the opportunity to express their “ART UNINHIBITED” side.

 rom Fashion shows to portfolio nights, the Prismacolor team was all over the Second City last week and Diana is bringing it all to you! Between visiting Millennium Park in Downtown Chicago for School of the Art Institue of Chicago 2011 Fashion Show then off to the College of DuPage for Student Portfolio Night in Glen, Ellyn, IL,. I dont know how they managed to get everything done!
 
Diana, Sheryl and Laura did so much that  it felt right to dedicate a second post to their adventures,  so keep an eye out for Part II!  
 

In the meantime, enjoy  the bright lights of  SAIC’s The Fashion Show 2011—featuring more than 250 garments from SAIC’s Fashion Design BFA candidates showcased by 60 professional models from Factor Runway—the largest ever in the show’s 77-year history, according to SAIC’s website.
