With the tagline “Keep Loving Leona” there is no better way to ring in this Valentine’s Day then an interview with the one and only Lauren Leonard, the fabulous designer behind Leona clothing.   Not only are her finished designs wearable fabric magic, but her sketches and designs are works of art in their own right.

Diana visited the Greenwich Village Art Fair in Rockford, Illinois this past weekend to highlight jewelry designer Deb Karash and her unique use of Prismacolor Colored Pencils.

Savannah, Georgia, made famous as the setting for the John Berendt’s novel, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, played host to Diana, our resident Fine Art Consumer Specialist, last week. She visited the Savannah College of Art and Design to deliver another fabulous Prismacolor demonstration for students and teachers alike.

F rom Fast Company’s May issue, in “Tools of My Trade,” famed architectural designer, Steve Weindel lists Prismacolor colored pencils as one of his top tools! The principal designer at architecture giant, Gensler, always has Prismacolor colored pencils on hand, despite having advanced computer programs available. “There’s nothing like them,” he says. Weindel emphasized how much his clients appreciate the hand-drawn designs, including his latest project, San Francisco International Airport’s newly renovated Terminal 2, which opened in April.

In the meantime, enjoy  the bright lights of  SAIC’s The Fashion Show 2011—featuring more than 250 garments from SAIC’s Fashion Design BFA candidates showcased by 60 professional models from Factor Runway—the largest ever in the show’s 77-year history, according to SAIC’s website.

A few weeks ago Prismacolor paid a visit to SYWBAD at the Kenmore Live Studio in Downtown Chicago to surprise the contestants and hand out goody bags FULL of Prismacolor products.  Every great design starts with a great sketch, so what better way to get inspired then brand new art supplies?!
